Developed in collaboration with RIBA North and consultant Miles Falkingham, as a celebration of 25 years of Urban Splash, 'It Will Never Work' narrates the story of the Ground-breaking property developers via many of the award-winning schemes it has developed; examining the context in which they were created and distilling the attitude and values that made them possible.
In support of the exhibition, a 298 page cloth bound, hard-back book was also published, expanding upon the exhibition content with supporting texts from design critics, employees and former RIBA presidents.
To date, It Will Never Work has been the most visited exhibition at RIBA North. The opening event was attended by Liverpool’s Metropolitan Mayor, Steve Rotherham with corresponding events in Manchester attended by Manchester Metropolitan Mayor Andy Burnham, alongside significant figures from architecture, design and regeneration fields.
