We were commissioned by Red and Blue restaurants to develop a brand for their latest venue, Rocket & Ruby.
Catering for local coffee grabbers, business district breakfasters, informal lunchers and easy-dinner diners, Rocket & Ruby provides everyday provisions in a canteen-like setting based in Liverpool’s business district. The brand needed stand-out and kerbside appeal amongst some of the more prosaic offerings for the daytime crowd.
Serving up a ready to-go menu in a relaxed, easy going atmosphere, we created a robust, unfussy and upbeat identity with the sunny colour palette and simple letter forms combining to create a distinctive visual voice for the brand. Applied with consistency and and exhibiting a sunny disposition from print to packaging, it is recognisable, simple and feels a welcome antidote to the mundane.
The crux of the identity is a bespoke typeface made from simple, brightly coloured shapes which can be remixed endlessly to create fun patterns and expressive messages.
